Dumb Phone
Turn your iPhone into a minimalist style phone
Want to avoid easy distractions when you pick up your iPhone?
Dumb Phone has your back by transforming it into a minimalist style phone that swaps flashy icons / colors with a sleek and minimal Home Screen for accessing essential apps.Hey everyone, I'm Michael. Back again with another exciting launch!! ๐
Introducing Dumb Phone - an app that transforms your iPhone into a minimalist style phone. โ๏ธ
After I launched focusedOS last month, which hides all distractions on Mac with one click, I'm bringing that same vibe to iOS with Dumb Phone.
It will swap out flashy icons & colors with a sleek and minimal Home Screen that helps you avoid easy distractions and dopamine hits.
๐จ I've been using this every day for the last month and my screen time has nosedived. When I pick my phone I don't open random things anymore and it has completely changed how I interact with it.
Here's a few key things it does: ๐ simplify the home screen; replace colorful app icons, wallpapers, and pesky notification badges with simple text buttons ๐ quick app access; select essential apps that you frequently access so theyโre always a tap away ๐ style your new home screen; choose from a Dark or Light theme, the text font, size, positioning, color
There's more, such as shortcuts support for adjusting which apps are displayed so you can tie this in with any automations.
Try it out for yourself, add the apps that you use most of the time, and let me know what you think!
I've tried to include many popular + indie apps so you can easily add them to your new Home Screen. ๐
It's free to use with a trial period, has a lifetime option to perpetually upgrade, which you can upgrade at the big existing discount to celebrate this launch.
I am especially excited to launch Dumb Phone on Product Hunt today after the incredible feedback it's received on Twitter the past 48 hours. ๐ https://x.com/michael_tigas/stat...

Thank you so much! ๐ ๐
PS: If you have an Android phone, sorry! Search up Minimalist Phone instead. They are doing incredible work over there. ๐I've tried it for a couple of days now and it actually seems to stick. I'm so surprised because none of these focus apps/hacks ever worked for me. But this one is so effective and yet looks sooo good that I don't want to get rid of it anymore. Caught myself a couple of times already where I wanted to check some random shit on my phone but locked it again because there was just no instant stupid app for me to tap apart from my essentials. Absolutely love it and definitely gonna keep using it. Well done Michael!!!@fvates Fantastic to hear Florian! Sounds like the blandness/lack of color on the home screen is actually making a meaningful difference.
Here's my similar experience:
My phone normally sits on my desk since i'm an app developer, but sometimes when i'm waiting for a task to complete I notice I pick my phone up out of habit and try to do something exciting, which is usually on one of the social apps with a colorful icon. But with the blandness applied I see the text of an app name instead and that's enough to make me second guess whether I should tap it.
The magic works ๐ฅ
Hope you continue to enjoy using Dumb Phone!!Part of me thinks that your version is the actually smart one, and the usual phone is dumb haha. Love what helps to decrease distractions.@anastasiia_stepko Thanks Anastasiia! ๐๐ Love your take ahaha; dumb phone for smart-er people. As someone who is also a bit fanatic about productivity, mental health, etc. I see a lot of benefits with a simple style like this.
Do you experience the same from your audience?
Looking forward to testing it!@casper_brix Thank you for the support Casper!
Yes definitely, it's been quite intriguing listening to their experiences.
Some have mentioned how they snap out of mindless actions a lot quicker now when they pick up their phone, since the blandness is nerfing the dopamine rush they'd get from particular colors/app icons associated w/ the reward from tapping on them.
Very interesting learnings!
