A while back I submitted a form on some website and they showed me a confetti - it made me feel good.
But to see more, I'd have to keep re-submitting that form which is not a sustainable and long term solution, right?
So... as a developer, I took to the keyboard and built ConfettiTherapy.com so I can have all the UNLIMITED & FREE confetti I want with very little effort 🎉

After I announced it on X, it BLEW UP, thousands of people went to it and started popping confettis all around the world 🌍

Confetti Therapy received HUNDREDS of positive comments on how it makes people feel better and so on, some highlights:

I've never seen that coming.

From a personal point, it was a great example to learn more about React / Next.js and generating static sites with it deployed to Cloudflare Pages (indestructible, rock solid hosting at $0/mo forever)

Hope you find it useful and helps you relax too - I find it the most effective in the evening after the long day is over - in the morning it doesn't seem to have the same effect on me... how about you?

I’m Chris, one of the co-founders of Shimmer (#1 ADHD Coaching Platform). I’m super stoked to share something we’ve been testing & iterating on with our members for a while! 

✨ Quick refresher on Shimmer: In ‘22 I was diagnosed with ADHD. I was handed some Adderall and sent off to fend for myself. We stood up & deprecated many experiments, but the one that has lasted and evolved through them all is… body doubling! 

If you’re new to ADHD lingo, body doubling is basically a fancy word for co-working, except you can apply it to anything that gives you positive social accountability, and makes a way bigger difference for us with ADHD. Doing laundry next to a friend, calling your mom while you clean, working at a coffee shop, logging on to Shimmer Body Doubling as a Shimmer Coach hosts a session—pick your poison ☠️

We created body doubling after our members had been asking for it for a while, but found shortcomings in other body doubling options. So we did what we do best, we leveraged the latest in behavioral & ADHD science to create an ADHD-informed way of doing body doubling.

- Shimmer actually only matches participants with coaches for 1:1 coaching sessions, where the ongoing rapport is important for the coaching relationship to flourish. For the body doubling sessions, members tune into whichever ones match their schedule, with some (not all) having a theme. In the future when we're hosting more, we'll definitely be doing more of "body doubling for taxes", "body doubling for entrepreneurship", "body doubling for laundry"
- Yes! After coaching sessions and body doubling sessions, and when members have been with Shimmer for 1, 3 months, we ask them science-backed assessment questions that help them understand how their life has changed (executive functioning skills, impairment), relationship with their coach, capacity for change, and more. 
- For now, coaches host the body doubling experience because in case there is any situation that requires moderation or escalation, the coaches are trained to handle these situations. In the future, we may consider doing light training for member facilitation but that isn't in the plans just yet!@christal @dhruv_n1 Body doubling has been a huge game changer when it comes to cleaning- many members use the time to fold their laundry! It's nice to have people there for the challenging tasks that take more motivation to get doneThis looks pretty interesting. The one question I had is regarding some text that appeared as part of the conversation with the therapist which was "Image description: [Image of a friendly, mid-aged European woman with kind eyes and a warm smile....] 

What's the intention of that text? Do you have facial recognition scanning my face? What if that text reveals an age older than the bio age ...that could send someone that's mentally unwell into worse depression. Is that text supposed to be hidden...? 

I found it confusing & out of context during the conversation with the therapist.@emily_willis1 Thank you very much for your kind comment Emiliy! 😊 Thanks also for bringing this to my attention, and I completely understand your concerns! I can definitely assure you that we do not use any facial recognition or collect any personal data of that kind. The image description you saw is solely related to Emilia, our virtual therapist. In the future, we plan to introduce different therapist personas that users can choose from, each with unique characteristics and communication styles—so it won’t just be Emilia with her “friendly, mid-aged European woman” description. As it is my first release ever, there may be still some bugs here and there...
