Upwind's Major Funding Round
Upwind, a leading cloud security startup founded by former Spot.io executives, has successfully raised $100 million in a Series A funding round. This new investment has tripled the company's valuation to $900 million, marking a 300% increase from its previous round in September 2023. The round was spearheaded by Craft Ventures, with participation from notable investors like TCV and Alta Park Capital, alongside existing backers such as Greylock, Cyberstarts, Leaders Fund, Cerca, and Sheva, co-founded by former NBA player Omri Casspi.
Expanding Workforce and Operations
Since its inception in late 2022, Upwind has raised a total of $180 million. The company, founded by Amiram Shachar and his partners from Spot.io, plans to double its workforce to nearly 300 employees and expand its operations across its current offices in Israel, San Francisco, the UK, and Iceland.
Innovative Cloud Security Solutions
Upwind's flagship product is a Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) that empowers organizations to prioritize real threats over irrelevant ones. This integrated platform combines various security functionalities, including Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), Cloud Workload Protection (CWPP), Cloud Detection and Response (CDR), vulnerability management, identity security, and container security into a single solution.
Vision for Cloud Security
Amiram Shachar, founder and CEO of Upwind, emphasized the increasing complexity of cloud security, stating, "Organizations need smart solutions to help them move quickly without compromising safety. This investment reflects the growth and confidence we’re seeing from enterprise customers and allows us to provide tools that make a real difference. Our platform is reshaping cloud security by addressing the constantly evolving factors enterprises face in real time.**" He noted that Upwind's tools enhance visibility and focus on critical threats, fostering collaboration between security and DevOps for faster, safer growth.
