HR tech startup Rippling is currently embroiled in a blockbuster lawsuit against its competitor, Deel. The crux of the case involves allegations that Deel paid one of its employees to spy on Rippling. However, there's a significant hurdle: French bailiffs hired by Rippling are struggling to serve Deel's CEO, Alex Bouaziz, with the necessary legal papers. According to reports from the Irish newspaper Business Post, Bouaziz has proven elusive at his listed address in Paris.
Earlier this year, Rippling filed a lawsuit in Ireland, claiming that Deel engaged in illegal activities, including employing an alleged spy to gather information. Deel has firmly denied any wrongdoing.
As attempts to locate Bouaziz continue, Rippling may need to explore alternative methods of serving him, potentially via email, as suggested by Business Post. Bouaziz, who is known to be “highly nomadic,” lists his location as Tel Aviv on LinkedIn while indicating New York on X.
As of now, neither Deel, Rippling, nor Bouaziz has responded to requests for comment regarding the ongoing situation.
