In a groundbreaking effort to support entrepreneurs in rural Kansas, Network Kansas, in collaboration with the Patterson Family Foundation, proudly announces the launch of the Interest Rate Reduction Initiative for Rural eCommunities. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of high interest rates and inflation on startup and growth-oriented businesses across 95 counties in Kansas.

Key Features of the Initiative

  • Availability: From January 1 to December 31, 2025 (or until funds are depleted).
  • This one-time grant works alongside Network Kansas’ GrowKS and eCommunity loan programs to lessen the total interest burden on loan recipients, empowering entrepreneurs to focus on scaling their businesses and creating local impact.

“This grant represents a shared commitment between Network Kansas and the Patterson Family Foundation to uplift rural communities,” said Sarah LaRosh, director of eCommunity Partnerships at Network Kansas. “In a time of economic uncertainty, we are providing a tangible solution to help rural entrepreneurs thrive.”

How It Works

  1. Entrepreneurs can apply for a small business loan through Network Kansas’ GrowKS or eCommunity loan processes.
  2. Each loan application is automatically reviewed for grant consideration.
  3. Once approved, grant funds will be disbursed with the loan dollars, directly reducing the interest rate on the loan.
  4. Annual impact data will be collected to measure program success.
  5. Only one grant per Employer Identification Number (EIN) can be awarded.

Why It Matters

High-interest rates and inflation create significant barriers for entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas with limited access to capital. By addressing this challenge, the Interest Rate Reduction Initiative allows business owners to allocate more resources toward growth, innovation, and job creation.

Building an Entrepreneurial Legacy

The initiative aligns with Network Kansas’ mission to foster entrepreneurship through funding and support. By leveraging the eCommunity coach network and partnerships with the state’s Certified Development Companies (CDCs), the program ensures a holistic approach to nurturing entrepreneurial success.

“Through initiatives like this, we are not just funding businesses—we are building stronger communities,” said Maria Flynn, President and CEO of the Patterson Family Foundation.
