The Israeli cyber industry continues to experience exits as the year draws to a close, although not all are as profitable as expected. Recently, Fortinet, a major American cybersecurity firm, announced its acquisition of the Israeli startup Perception Point, which has raised around $75 million in funding. While the deal's value was not officially disclosed, estimates suggest it is approximately $100 million.
Fortinet, boasting a market cap of $75 billion, aims to enhance its security offerings to cater to businesses transitioning to cloud-first and hybrid environments.
Perception Point’s AI-powered technologies safeguard critical collaboration tools like Slack, Teams, and various cloud applications, alongside web browsers and social platforms. These technologies will be incorporated into Fortinet's Security Fabric, a unified platform aimed at streamlining cybersecurity solutions.
Founded in 2015 by Michael Aminov and Shlomi Levin, both alumni of the Israeli Defense Forces’ Intelligence Corps, Perception Point is led by Yoram Salinger, a former CEO at RedBand. The company has attracted investments from notable firms, including Red Dot Capital, Nokia Growth Partners, Pitango, and SOMV.
This acquisition is not Fortinet's first venture into the Israeli cyber market; the company previously acquired EnSilo in 2019.
