Do share the app with those you think would benefit from it and also do reach out to us if you receive any valuable feedback & ideas!Hey @jesonduthie really cool app and great to see people working on things to improve women's safety. I really like the idea of the fake calls as well as the anonymous recordings 👏🏻
Can you tell us more about the trigger device, how does it communicate with the app, via BLE? I have worked on similar apps in the past, and keeping the connection alive when the app is in the background (especially on Android) can be a huge challenge.
Congrats on the launch 🚀@crebuh Hey Christofer, thank you!! Yeah, Fake call has been one of the most loved features that we have! It also helps users slide away from an uncomfortable meeting or various other places as well!
I will give you a longer response soon below for the BLE connection question you have asked! We have faced a lot of issues for the same, but Android has been good to us compared to IOS where we still face issues!@crebuh With regards to the BLE connection -
We have implemented a foreground service in our Android app that triggers a notification when a BLE device connects. This service continues to run even when the app is in background mode, maintaining the connection to the app. Should the BLE device move out of range and disconnect, the service will attempt to reconnect until the user manually terminates the connection. The foreground service will cease operation once the user manually disconnects the BLE device.
All this said, sometimes we still encounter some issues with different manufacturers, android versions etc.
So we aim to eventually move to a GPRS device with GPS enabled. This will make it easier for users as they just have to connect to the app once and then the phone need not even be near or turned on.
Although this would affect battery life and the size would increase, but we are working with some manufacturers to strike a good balance.Omg, I love the "fake call" feature, it's finally here! It's on Android as well, Is this region specific? Congratulations on the launch! Love the pink UI as well!@yashaswini_ippili Yes!! The app works globally everywhere the Play Store & app store are present! Thank you, Yashaswini!Congratulations on the launch. I like to App UI - pretty simple to get started.@vishalini_paliwal1 Thank you Vishalini, we are constantly trying to improve our UX so that it is very easy for our users to quickly reach out for any help or record incidents!
